  • What made you decide to become a Cam Model?

Like any job you start doing, you’re doing it for the money. As much as people would like to say they do it for the sheer love of that career, the money is almost always the main reason for working. I finished school with good grades and decided that I wanted to move out and start a life for myself somewhere else. I saved up money from my part time jobs I had in school and set off, having booked time in temporary accommodation I started looking for a job! Not only did I not know what I wanted to do with my life, nowhere was hiring and I was growing more and more stressed, and I didn’t want to rely on my parents.
I have a Tumblr blog and have followed cam model Ashe_Maree (https://ixnay-on-the-oddk.tumblr.com) on there for a while, she talks openly and honestly about being a cam model and so I checked out myfreecams a few times and it seemed like fun as well as a good form of income.

  • How did you find your first week as an MFC Model?
Ooooh my first week of cam seems such a long time ago!! I signed up to myfreecams, continued to research endlessly, I watched a few girls, I was hesitant about actually doing it for days, maybe a week or so but I finally bit the bullet. The first time I signed on cam my microphone wasn’t working which led to an awkward start. I didn’t have any kind of profile, I hadn’t set any prices, guests and basics were allowed to talk and my PMs were being blown up! Another cam model, Lily Marie (https://twitter.com/LilyMarieMFC) came into my room and tried to offer me some advice and tips – she was amazing. Unfortunately the guys turned against her, I see now that they were angry at her because she wanted to stop them freeloading. For the remainder of the week I became more used to how things worked, all the features the MFC program had and became more comfortable. I really enjoyed it.

  • Would you say you were prepared/well informed/did MFC provide you with all the info needed to do this job?
I felt that I was prepared, however in practice I turned out to be very very wrong! I hadn’t thought about what my boundaries were, or prices for things – I hadn’t prepared anything! On my first day I showed my ass for about 20 tokens because I had no idea how much a token was actually worth! Myfreecams and all the other sources like AmberCutieForums (https://www.ambercutie.com/forums/) helped me get a general idea of things, watching other models helped me a lot too! But I don’t think anything can prepare you for the real thing.

  • How have you found your two years on MFC?
My two years on myfreecams have been great – I’ve made such amazing friends and being my own boss is unbelievable. It’s honestly been one of the best experiences I’ve had, and contrary to popular belief I am treated with more respect by premiums than any customers in any other job I have worked in.
I have found working on myfreecams very beneficial for me personally also, I had a lot of body issues, as many people do at a young age, I was self-conscious and recovering from an eating disorder – just generally hated the way I looked; but being on myfreecams and showing off my body helped me get over these issues completely.

  • What would you say is the hardest part of being a cam model?

I personally find the hardest part of being a cam model is coming up with fresh new ideas people might like. I am guilty of doing the same topics to death! People get bored and go elsewhere so keeping things fresh and fun is very important.

  • Have you found it hard to keep your job private from friends and family?
Personally I haven’t found it that much of a struggle. I have a suspicion that some people I know, know what I do for a living but nobody has ever said anything to me or used it against me.
I’ve cammed secretly in my parents’ home whilst I was visiting them at Christmas for a few weeks and they didn’t notice, I’ve let slip to a few friends whom I trust when I was drunk but they’ve never brought it up with me sober – they may have forgotten or thought I was joking. However this industry is very taboo and a lot of models aren’t as lucky as I am, many models have lost friends and family for doing this, some are lucky and have the full support of everyone they know.

  • Do you think MFC provide enough protection for their models to keep them safe?
In one word: No. I have had no issues with myfreecams personally however I am aware how lax their security is. Many girls I know have had their accounts hacked, details changed and leaked for the world to see. This is can be dangerous for anyone in the world, however in this industry it could be life threatening. Myfreecams needs to upgrade their security, drastically.

  • Do you find MFC easy to use?
As a website I find it fairly easy to use and navigate, like with any website or program it takes a wee bit of getting used to. It is important to read the model news as it will keep you up to date with new features that the website may introduce.

  • Have you found it easy to make Regulars? If no, why do you think that is?
When I started on myfreecams I found it very easy to make regulars, these guys were there almost every day, I was allowing all basics and guests to talk, and I’d made friends with them. However over this time I have lost many of them. Some have left myfreecams altogether, some are just too busy, some have found other models they’d rather talk to – and these are all perfectly fine. I still speak to some of them on occasion. Although, recently I banned a premium member who I had known for my whole 2 years and who I considered a friend; it turns out he had never ever tipped me. It is important to know that there is a point where people stop being friends and are freeloading.
I feel that I lost my regulars as I was not on cam regularly, I’d take days off and not let people know, Id cam strange times, at one point I blocked the UK so I wouldn’t be found by people I knew so I lost a lot of following that way too. I also feel that having my twitter privatised makes having regulars and general viewers harder.

  • What made you want to do better on MFC?
I wanted to do better on myfreecams for myself, to see what I could achieve, I love my job, I love the freedom, I love the people and I wanted to put in the effort to see what I was capable of.

  • What was the hardest part of bringing your MFC career back around? Did you feel physically/mentally drained?
On average I would work maybe an hour a day on cam, and I didn’t cam every day. In February I cammed a total of 74 hours. It killed me. I also work another job so juggling my friends, boyfriend, and two jobs was mentally and physically exhausting. I got sick and I was working unnatural hours on cam and behind the scenes too! But I made the highest rank I’ve ever had in Miss MFC so to me it was all worth it. Although I was not a top model and getting a $1000 dollar bonus or anything, the great sense of achievement was indescribable.

  • Would you say being a Cam Model is a ''hard job''?
Being a cam model is as hard a job as you allow it to be, it can be easy but that typically means you won’t be as successful. The amount of work you see a cam model do, is maybe 1/10 of the work she is actually doing.
As a cam model I sell my snapchat – taking selfies isn’t hard in itself but must be done regularly, also being active on social media so anyone who follows you will know what deals you’re offering when/if you will be on cam, answering constant mails and DMs, body prep such as working out and shaving, finding new and exciting things to wear, planning out fun games, activities, and raffles for on cam, posting out prizes as well as making/buying them, promoting yourself, learning and then doing your taxes, learning to code and do your myfreecams profile, creating and editing videos, as someone who lives alone I have to take my own photos as well which is hard, as well as trying to stop any leaked content, finding the time to actually get on cam and being 100% happy and excited and fun, among many other things.
Juggling all of that plus a social life, and maybe a second job &/or education can be very draining and to do all of that whilst being your own boss and having to have the discipline to keep working is very difficult.

  • What do you want to come from MFC? Do you have a target in mind? Top Model? Pay the Bills? Something outside of MFC, using MFC to fund it?
This is a hard question! I’d like to get from myfreecams what anyone would hope to get from any job really; financial stability. Being able to afford nice things – not just the essentials. Whilst I would like to be ranked as a “top model” I know I can be perfectly happy without obtaining that status, I’d just like to be the best I can be through this job and hopefully use the money to start my own lingerie company.

  • Would you say all the hours and effort you put in over the last month paid off?
I would definitely say so, yes – my last month was my most lucrative month I’ve ever had, there were shifts when I made 0 tokens, so finding the motivation to get back on cam and achieve my goal was hard but it was so so worth it. Although the month was very difficult, whilst I was on cam I was having a really good time, I had a lot of fun in the shows I was doing which definitely adds to the whole atmosphere. If you’re having a good time, members in your room will be too.

  • After putting in these hours would you say you're a happier model?
I am happier in the sense I am enjoying camming more, I am happier in the sense I am doing better as a cam model, and I am happier in the sense I can afford more things this month, but also with this I am a lot more tired from all that hard work, and I am a bit more stressed at the idea I need to keep doing this well.

  • If you could give New Models one piece of advice, what would it be?

If I could give new models advice I’d say to do your research, visit cam models rooms. Sit down and have a plan, and enjoy yourself!!Things to think about before signing on cam for the first time would be:-Figure out the worth of a token in your currency, and decide what you want to do and what you want to charge-Look to see what other models are offering and if you would want to offer that too-Do you want to be a nude/non-nude model?-Are you going to sell content right away? If so make some first! If you want to wait until you’re more established that’s fine too-Be aware you will be posted all over the internet and Email myfreecams to get the DMCA button added to your profile so you can have them removed quicker!
